Eating Out - Habis Cafe and Restaurant, Littleport
I love this little restaurant. The atmosphere is so friendly and relaxed. They serve lovely food, a mixture of Mediterranean and English, including breakfast, lunch and evening meals. We love the paella nights! They also serve Sunday lunch too.
From the cottage head back towards Littleport, go straight on at the roundabout, and right at the first mini roundabout you come to. Turn left at the traffic lights. Habis is on your right, but if you carry on through the Main Street, there is a car park on your right.
Habis is very dog friendly, although dogs are not allowed in the evening.
The Lamb and Flag, Welney
This is a great local pub, offering generous portions of good pub food. Very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. It is advisable to book, especially at the weekends as its very popular for Sunday lunch.
It’s just over 4 miles from Hawthorn cottage. Head back to the main road and turn left. Stay on this road which will take you through the washes and the pub is on your right as you enter the village of Welney.
Dogs are allowed in the bar area.
Indian Gardens, Littleport
This is probably one of the best Indian restaurants we have been to. Great service and the food is presented well, and delicious too. If you do not want to eat out, there is a takeaway option, which is very good.
Head back towards Littleport and go straight on at the roundabout. Turn left at the first mini roundabout, right at the second mini roundabout. The road goes around a sharp left bend and the restaurant is on your left.
Peacocks Tea Rooms, Ely
Fantastic tearooms in Ely. Situated beside the river. We have always had really lovely food and cakes when we have visited. Great friendly service too!
We always park in Sainsburys car park (CB7 4AS) when we visit here. You are allowed 3 hours in certain areas, which is enough time for a stroll by the river and country park, followed by a visit to the tearooms.
Very dog friendly.
3 & 3, Ely
This café is set down a little alley called Three Cups Walk. You can see the Cathedral from the terrace. It has an amazing beer library and also specialises in local wines and ciders. They serve lovely food too, especially the meat and cheese platters.
There is a car park at the end of the alley which is the most convenient one to use CB7 4AH.
The terrace is dog friendly.
11a is a cocktail bar and restaurant. The food here is lovely, whether you just want coffee and cake, or a lovely evening meal. It’s quite new and has been tastefully decorated.
I would park in the same car park as above and cut through Three Cups Alley.
Crown Lodge Hotel, Outwell
If you are heading out towards Wisbech, it is worth a stop here. I love this restaurant. The food is amazing and presented in a lovely way. They do an amazing afternoon tea too! The restaurant has a really relaxed atmosphere.
I have never taken our dog here, but have seen dogs in there at certain tables.
