National Trust Wicken Fen

Wicken Fen is a 250 hectare nature reserve a short drive from the cottage. The lush walking trails and tranquil waterways are perfect for walking the dogs, and for nature lovers it's a great place to spot wildlife. The reconstructed windmill is the last surviving wind pump of the thousands that used to be used to drain the Cambridgeshire fens.

Castle Rising is a wonderful ruin near King's Lyn, Norfolk

Castle Rising

Castle Rising is an extremely well preserved Norman Castle just off the A10 between Kings Lynn and Hunstanton.While you're in the area also check out the priory at Castle Acre - two wonderfully preserved medieval attractions just 11 miles away from each other. A lovely day out!

One of the largest, best preserved and most lavishly decorated keeps in England, surrounded by 20 acres of mighty earthworks.

National Trust Anglesey Abbey

Anglesey Abbey is a Jacobean country house in Cambridge. The property is on a 98 acre plot consisting of formal gardens and landscaped grounds. A restored mill also resides within the grounds of the abbey. The grounds are beautiful to walk around any time of year.

Houghton Mill is another National Trust site a short drive from the cottage, a picturesque site on the banks of the River Great Ouse. You can still by Houghton Mill flour after the National Trust installed new millstones in 1999. Houghton Mill also includes Waterclose Meadows and a lovely tea room.

Wimpole Hall is a stately country house near Cambridge. The Grade I listed building lies within a 3,000 acre estate.
