Dogs at Hawthorn Cottage

Hawthorn Cottage is a perfect getaway for dog owners. We have a dog friendly cottage with a lawned and fenced garden. We're surrounded by fields and bridleways, perfect for morning walkies.

We do have a few house rules to ensure the safety of all guests and dogs.

House Rules

  • We accept 3 dogs, but if you have more please get in touch. We may be able to accommodate more depending on size and also the number of human guests per booking. We wouldn’t want you to feel overcrowded!
  • Dogs are allowed on the sofa, but you MUST use the throws provided.
  • We would prefer dogs were kept downstairs, and we have a stairgate that can be put up on request. We do however realise some dogs like to sleep with their owners. Please get in touch if this is the case. We can offer the opportunity for you to bring your own bedding. We do get guests who visit without dogs, and cleanliness is one of our top priorities, so we think it is only fair that if dogs go upstairs, they are using your own bedding from home. There will be a charge for any damage done to our bedding by your dog.
  • All dogs must be fully housetrained, and must be up to date with treatments for fleas and parasites.
  • We do not accept any puppies under the age of 9 months.
  • Dogs must not be left alone in the property.
  • All dog hair and dog mess must be cleared up before departure.
  • We supply dog bowls, poo bags and a welcome treat. There are also dog towels in the shed outside.
  • We have a supply of dog holiday tags, remember to leave them in the cottage at the end of your visit.
  • We have a Mud Daddy, a portable washing device, so if your dog gets muddy on the walks, you can wash them off before they go indoors. Please leave them to dry off in the conservatory. The Mud Daddy is portable, so you can take it with you when you are out and about in the local area. Saves a muddy car. Please remember to leave it in the shed before you depart though!
  • There are some lovely walks from the door, through droves and fields. Burnt Chimney Drove is very quiet for off lead walks.
  • The rear cottage garden is enclosed with a 3ft high picket fence. We know some guests like higher fences but we didn’t want to spoil the view!
  • And finally, if you have any photos of your dogs on holiday with us, we would love to see them!!!
